100% Garnatxa Negra

Color robí intens amb reflexos violacis. Al nas és expressiu, amb aromes de fruita vermella i subtils notes especiades. En boca és saborós i estructurat, amb tanins madurs que s’arrodoniran elegantment amb el temps en ampolla. La fusta està ben integrada i acompanya una garnatxa potent, d’acidesa fresca i amb un gran potencial de guarda.

Deep garnet red with violet reflections. The nose is expressive, offering aromas of red fruits and subtle spicy notes. On the palate, it is flavourful and structured, with ripe tannins that will continue to soften beautifully with age. The oak is well-integrated, supporting a powerful Garnatxa with lively acidity and excellent aging potential.

Elaboració

Vi negre monovarietal de garnatxa, resultat de la fusió de les variants Garnatxa Fina i Garnatxa Peluda. La maceració, la fermentació alcohòlica i la fermentació malolàctica es realitzen íntegrament en una bóta de roure francès (foudre) de 5.000 litres, on el vi envelleix durant nou mesos.

Winemaking

A single-varietal red Garnatxa, blending the Garnatxa Fina and Garnatxa Peluda variants. Maceration, alcoholic fermentation, and malolactic fermentation all take place in a 5,000-litre French oak foudre, where the wine is then aged for nine months.

El Celler Xavier Clua es troba a Vilalba dels Arcs, a la comarca catalana de la Terra Alta, un territori de secà on el conreu de la vinya i la producció de vi té una tradició d’origen medieval.

Des de fa quatre generacions, el cognom Clua ha estat lligat al treball de la vinya i la producció de vi. La darrera generació, encapçalada per Xavier Clua, acumula l’experiència d’aquesta tradició vitivinícola amb la formació universitària que aporta la introducció de les noves tècniques i mètodes de treball de la vinya i la vinificació dels seus productes.

A poc a poc, els productes del Celler Xavier Clua es van fent un nom al món del vi i l’empresa familiar va creixent, incorporant nous valors al projecte com Rosa Domènech. Un creixement que exigeix la disposició d’unes noves instal·lacions, més àmplies i modernes, que esdevenen una realitat l’any 2006, amb la construcció d’un nou celler.

Identity, Character, and Terroir. Vilalba dels Arcs, Terra Alta

The Xavier Clua wine cellar is located in Vilalba dels Arcs, in the Terra Alta region of Catalonia. In this dry, sunny area, vine-growing and wine production have been a tradition since medieval times.

For four generations, the name Clua has been closely tied to the culture of vineyards and wine production. The latest generation, led by Xavier Clua, combines the experience of this viticultural tradition with university training, bringing new perspectives and techniques both to viticulture and winemaking.

More and more, the products of the Cellar Clua acquire a name in the wine world, and the family enterprise has grown with the addition of Rosa Domenech, Xavier’s wife and an experienced oenologist in her own right. With this growth, it became increasingly necessary to expand to a newer, more modern site.
